Cert of Attendance - Updating the Cert Templates

Admin User Guide: Editing Certificate Templates ("Files")

⚠️ Note: This section is not open to standard CourseCo admin users by default. Updating certificate templates is considered a technical task. It can be enabled if the admin user takes full responsibility for their own updates. Any updates requested from CourseCo will incur charges via Priority Support.

Steps to Edit a Certificate Template

  1. Navigate to Files menu

    • Go to the left-hand menu and select "Files".

  2. Go to Templates

    • Click on the "Templates" tab.

    • You will see a list of all your certificate of attendance templates - named specifically to suit your business

  3. Select the Applicable Template

    • Choose the template you want to edit.

    • Download the latest .docx file version.

  4. Edit Using Google Docs

    • Open the .docx file in Google Docs.

    • CourseCo supports editing with Google Docs and recommends it for best formatting compatibility.

    • Make your updates using the mail merge tags as needed.

  5. Download as a DOCX

    • After editing, download the updated file as a .docx (not CSV—templates remain in .docx format).

  6. Re-upload the Updated Template

    • Return to the applicable template in Files > Templates.

    • Upload your updated .docx file.

  7. Test the Certificate

    • Go to an applicable Contacts record.

    • Manually generate the certificate to check that formatting and merge tags appear as expected.
